Empty Stance (Shu Bu)

The "Empty Stance", indeed and perhaps the most difficult stance in Wu Shu!  This stance requires alot of  leg strength, balance, and flexibility.

For this stance, you will have to put one leg in the front and sit on the rear leg.  The front leg should be slightly bent with almost NO weight on the toes, and the toes should be pointed.  Sit on the rear leg so that your thigh is completely parallel to the floor again.  The foot of the rear leg should be turned 45 degrees to the outside and both knees should be about a fists length apart to protect you from kicks to the groin.

Your back foot must be completely flat and from the very top of your head to your lower back (spine), should be one straight line.  Your chest should be sticking out like a super hero and your upper body should not be leaning forward or hunched.

Tip: Remember to keep your back completely straight.  Chest out, shoulders down, knees a little close together, and head up.
