The "Bow Stance" is another classical stance in chinese martial arts. To form a Bow Stance place one leg in front of you (leading leg) and the other behind you (rear leg).
Bend the leading leg so that your thigh is completely parallel to the floor and flat so that if someone put a hot cup of tea on it, it would sit there and not fall. Make sure that your knee is right above your heel and lined up with it properly. Never have your knee above your toes, unless you want knee damage. Always keep the knee above the heel in a straight line, and the toes should point straight out.
The rear leg should be straight and not bent at all. and the toes of your back leg should point 90 degrees out from where your front foot is facing so that the rear leg and rear toes form a perfect 90 degree angle from a birds eye view.
Once again, your weight is distributed evenly 50/50 and push your groin down center towards the floor. Imagine a rock strapped onto your waist and just hanging straight down.
Tip: your hips must be completely squared and your body facing straight forward where ever your front leg is pointed. Never let your body face the side unless your in a different pose like in my picture above.
