
Luis Herrera began training at the age of sixteen in Traditional Shaolin Kungfu under the tutelage of Sifu Albert Pollard, longtime student of Grandmaster Alan Lee.
He trained for 4 years attaining a thorough understanding of the Traditional Shaolin Martial Arts and it's methods of training, fighting, and body conditioning.
In 1997 he met Master Edward Aguirre and trained for a short while and later returned in 1999 to train and compete for the next five years, grasping clean basics, strong technique and a good foundation of Contemporary Chinese Martial Arts.
In 2003 he began training under Master Chen Ying former member of the Professional Fujian Wu Shu team, enhancing his knowledge and abilities of body mechanics, and proper form.
Some of his achievments are:
-2000 and 2001 Invited by the American Wu Shu Society to assist teaching seminars providing instruction in Southern Broadsword, and Wu Shu basics to members of the Uberaba Wu Shu Society in Brazil
-2002 trained at the Wu Bin (Coach of Jet Li) Di Tan center in Beijing, China and competed in the Wu Bin Invitational International Competition
-Arnold Scwarzennegger Classics Columbus Ohio, 2003 Gold Medalist in Southern Fist Boxing and Silver Medalist in Open Weapons (Double Broadswords)
-Carribean Cup 2003 held in Puerto Rico, Silver Medalist Southern Boxing
-US Nationals 2003 & 2004 -3 Time US National Gold Medalist in Southern Styles
-US National Silver Medalist in Open Weapons (Drunken Sword Play)
Luis Herrera continues to train, compete and promote Wu Shu, performing for full contact fights in the New York City area and is now teaching in Queens, New York
